Diamond wire saws are innovative cutting tools that offer a range of advantages in precision cutting. Unlike traditional cutting methods, diamond wire saws utilize a stainless steel wire embedded with synthetic diamonds to achieve clean, smooth, and burr-free cuts. This unique cutting process ensures minimal material loss and eliminates the need for additional polishing.
The diamond wire is wound onto a drum, which is mounted on a precision reciprocating motor. The length of the wire can vary depending on the saw model, ranging from 10 to 40 meters. The wire diameters also vary from 0.10 mm to 0.70 mm, offering flexibility for different cutting applications.
To achieve a constant feed rate, gravity and/or a weight system are used in conjunction with the saws. Additionally, the speed of the diamond wire can be continuously adjusted, with a maximum speed of 2.5m/s to prevent heating of the sample being cut. No cutting fluid is required, although the use of the recommended cutting fluid is highly recommended for wire cleaning.
